TransportationThe Butler County Board of MRDD offers a wide variety of transportation opportunities for individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities. These services are operated directly by the Board or contracted with local transportation providers. The Board operates a fleet of 43 buses that include the conventional yellow school bus as well as newer styled white transit buses. All buses are equipped with wheelchair lifts. The newer white transit buses are being phased in and have many upgrades that include air conditioning, flat floors and acoustical ceilings. There are a total of 29 yellow buses and 14 white transit buses. All drivers are licensed and certified as school bus drivers. The mechanics servicing the buses and other vehicles operated by the Butler County Board of MRDD have multiple years of experience. The mechanics also are responsible for servicing an additional 43 trucks, vans and cars regularly. Close collaboration occurs between all Board Programs and transportation staff to assure reliable, safe and efficient service. |
