Videos

The Board has a number of videos it has produced over the years, featuring the people with developmental disabilities, their families and the services we offer them.

Secrets of Our Success is a 1993 production that first introduced Sarah Godsey. She was later featured in the popular 1994 levy campaign Yes, Sarah. This video also featured the Neubert family, who finally with a change in state funding practices, could have their son, Robbie, live with them after nine years in an institution. Also featured in the video are Kay Moore and her father Roger Moore shortly after Kay began living on her own. And there is Leonard Alford, an employee at Woodside Cemetery, who talks about his work ethic. Time: 8 or 9 minutes.

Come Learn with Us is a 1997 video that highlighted the need for the renovation at then Fair Acres Early Childhood Center, now the Janet Clemmons Center for Young Children and Families. In the video we meet twins Jack and Colleen Cleary and their mom, Nancy, and brother and sister, Tyler and Megan Babb and their mom, Sherry Babb. Both mothers talk about the importance of children with disabilities learning with their siblings and with other typically-developing children their age. Time: 5 minutes.

I Love My Life is a 1998 production, which looks at the services of the Butler County MRDD Programs through the eyes and voice of Shawn O'Grady. Shawn was a pioneer in being educated in the public schools. The video follows him through school, on the job at Cincinnati Financial and living on his own in an apartment. Time: 8 or 9 minutes.

Faces of Our Community is a 1999 production which showcases the services available in the Middletown area as told through the stories of six people with developmental disabilities. The video has been broadcast on TV Middletown. Time: 7 or 8 minutes.

Pictures Through Time is a 2000 video that takes a "Where Are They Now?" approach to catching up with the stars from our earlier videos. In this video we return to visit with Sarah Godsey, Robbie Neubert, Jack and Colleen Cleary, Kay Moore, Leonard Alford and Shawn O'Grady. Time: 10 and a half minutes.

Families Next Door is a 2001 video that showcases our families in West Chester and Liberty Townships who have something in common.  It looks at four families and sees how they relate to the community and how MRDD services have helped them.  Time: 11 minutes.

Every Face in Our Community is a 2002 video about Self-advocates and their philosophy that come to the forefront.  This video focuses on the success stories and partnerships in the Hamilton area woven among the Butler County MRDD Philosophy.  The MRDD stars include Cathie and Mike Cox, Debbie Wilson, Todd Frasher, Elizabeth Crehan, Christopher Ott, Jamie Deaton, Mary Hagerman, Mildred Weaver, Robin Whitaker and Cathy Kolb.  Time: 16 minutes.

These videos are available for your viewing pleasure.
